Samuel Dennis White was born on March 9, 1818, in Parishville, New York. He joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1837 and in 1841 married Mary Hannah Burton in Nauvoo, Illinois. After stopping for a time in Garden Grove, Iowa, the Whites traveled to Utah in 1850, and spent the next several years working on the Cedar City settlement. White also wrote for the newly established Deseret News and made two trips east to assist Mormon emmigrants traveling to Utah. He died while att...
